Context before formula
A useful message should fit the person, the relationship and the occasion — not just a keyword.
Words that stay.
Editor of JOPEK
Oliwia Jopek leads the editorial direction of JOPEK — an international collection of wishes, greetings and messages built around the people, relationships and moments that matter.
Oliwia’s work on JOPEK starts with a simple observation: the same occasion can call for completely different words depending on who we are speaking to. A message for a mother, a close friend, a colleague or a child carries a different tone, even when the occasion itself is the same.
That is why JOPEK is organised not only around occasions such as birthdays, weddings, Christmas or anniversaries, but also around relationships, age, life stages and the tone of the message. The editorial goal is to help readers move from a broad idea to wording that feels natural in a real situation.
Outside editorial work, Oliwia enjoys travelling and observing how family celebrations, everyday courtesies and important life moments differ from place to place. These experiences influence the way the language editions of JOPEK are developed: not as literal translations of one master version, but as collections shaped around local customs and expectations.
Editorial approach
A useful message should fit the person, the relationship and the occasion — not just a keyword.
Polish name days, Italian onomastico or German Schulanfang deserve their own editorial structures.
The best words are often the ones that sound natural enough to actually send, write or say.
A note from the editor
“The right words do not have to be complicated. They should fit the person, the moment and the relationship.”
JOPEK is built to make those words easier to find — whether the message is joyful, formal, affectionate, playful or difficult to write.
